Faculty from Virginia Tech’s Educational Leadership and Policy Studies graduate program welcomed alumni back to the Richmond Center on Feb. 12 for a conversation focused on the evolving needs of school leaders.

Hosted by School of Education faculty members Jodie Brinkmann and Carol Cash, program graduate Omega Wilson, and Richmond Center Director Susan Johnstad, the gathering brought together K–12 administrators from across central Virginia and beyond, with some alumni traveling from as far as South Hill and Loudoun County.

Participants reviewed findings from a fall 2025 survey highlighting professional development priorities for both current and aspiring school leaders and explored opportunities for future collaboration. Sally McQuinn, assistant director of the Roanoke Center, shared information about the School Leaders Institute, and the group discussed additional initiatives in development.

For more than 50 years, Virginia Tech’s Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program has prepared principals, superintendents, central office leaders, and higher education administrators across the commonwealth and beyond. Designed for working professionals, the program blends research, policy, and real-world practice to support educational excellence, innovation, and equity.
