The 14th Annual Commonwealth of Virginia Children’s Services Act (CSA) Conference, “Elevating Youth Voices: Stepping Into the Future,” brought together more than 500 participants and 50 sponsor and vendor organizations at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center last month with conference management support from the Virginia Tech Richmond Center.
Supporting the Office of Children’s Services, the Richmond Center’s assistant director, Liz Fillman, and administrative and program manager, Elaine Densley, worked with Continuing and Professional Education registration coordinator Elika Preston to manage registration, sponsorships, speakers, and logistics for the two-day event.
Centered on the theme of collaboration with the next generation of leaders, the conference highlighted how young people’s lived experiences can drive systems change. Sessions explored innovations in child welfare, family-driven practices, and evidence-based strategies that strengthen outcomes for youth and families. By focusing on empowerment and shared learning, the even underscored the CSA mission of “Empowering Communities to Serve Youth.”
Through its longstanding partnership with the Office of Children’s Services, the Richmond Center continues to build connections that extend the university’s outreach and impact — supporting agencies and organizations that serve communities across Virginia.
“Our team is proud to help create an event that empowers communities and uplifts the voices of young people shaping the future,” Fillman said. “These partnerships allow us to showcase the university’s commitment to service while continuing to provide valuable education and support across the commonwealth.”
